Rising above Despair

Stately Evergreens in my front yard

Dearest & Nearest,

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day in your country, or is it only a USA holiday? Normally, I post a special lesson here on February 14th. This year, time got away from me. So I will publish that lesson today, in another post.

Some of you may know that I am caring for my 91 year old mother. And I help out my brother who has a disabling illness.

My mother, Arloween Mae, lives alone and takes care of her daily needs. She can still drive, though only under certain conditions and does so rarely. Here in NYS the winter has been harsh and she cannot go out alone in the snow and ice.

I do her shopping and paperwork, pick up her medications at the pharmacy, drive her to doctor's appointments, take out her trash, do her laundry, and whatever else she cannot do on her own. This all requires a great deal of time and energy, often in the freezing cold.

I recently had to drive her to Pennsylvania, where we had to spend the night because she needed a procedure which took two days. I do not enjoy motels, but there we were. And the next morning, when we had to rise before dawn to go to the hospital, its was frigid and icy.

The point is, my 'time' is more limited these days.

Life changes, doesn't it? This is what we can count on. And no matter how 'enlightened' we may become, there are still the daily tasks of living. The human body is still subject to cold and heat, accidents and illnesses. We still get worrisome mail we must deal with. There are still spam calls and spam emails. Wars and taxes. Rent or house payments to make. Loneliness and discouragement. Fear and hope.

Right now, as I write, all is peaceful. The golden sun is rising over the hills. The huge evergreens in my front yard are stately and beautiful. The snow is melting and the grass re-appearing. The laundry is in the washer. My cat is sleeping. And I am here in the peace with you. Well, actually I am here in peace with myself, since I am writing this here alone.

Remember I have written that angels are meant to do most of their work unseen by human eyes? Which is also true of the work I do...most of my angel work is done alone, in silence, then sent into the silence. Perhaps you read it; perhaps not. And if you read it, perhaps you receive and imbibe its message; perhaps not.

Anyway, since I began writing this, the sun has risen completely and the morning is in full swingI stopped to let the cat out, hang laundry, complete other tasks. And soon I must add up numbers and fill out forms for my mother.

The point of this message is that we must not despair because the ordinary events life continue. Despair not because the body grows older. Because a love affair ends. Because a friend deserts or betrays you. Because the tax office demands more money. Because your body becomes ill. Because your body is hurt in an accident. Because life seems overwhelming at times. Despair not.

And if you do despair, do your best to observe the despair. There is no need to try to stop it. Despair arises so long as it is within you to arise. The good news, the angelic news, is that you are not the despair, nor is the despair you.

You can use the only real power a human being has—the power to SEE. To Observe. Even a blind person person has this power, because we are referring to a power beyond physical sight.

SEE despair when it arises. Learn from it. The false power that despair assumes is the power to take you over, overwhelm you, paralyze you with hopelessness and depression. Fatigue you. Turn all into blackness. As if you are drowning in it.

I have never almost drowned, but those who have say that at some point there is total peace—an acceptance that one is drowning. But these are stories from those who have survived drowning.

My mother nearly drowned as a child. She says she saw her life go by in little glass boxes. Of course, she was only a child, so she didn't have much life to go by. Then, her brother, who was in the boat, grabbed her by her hair and pulled her out. So she never reached the point of seeing the Light or coming into peace.

She never saw the Light, and so she was only left with the wonder of the little boxes—and a terrible fear of water. She never went into the water again. Still, what she most remembers is the wonder of little boxes.

When despair arises, even when you feel are you drowning in it—in the cold water of darkness—you have the power to SEE. Just as my mother, even while drowning, still, somehow, had the power to SEE—to see the little boxes which contained her life—going by.

She was seeing memories, actually, contained within her brain. Who was SEEING — even in the midst of drowning?

YOU have the power to SEE. No matter how deep your despair may seem.

Please keep in mind:

"I have the power to SEE no matter how deep my despair may seem."

"I am not the little boxes of memories."

"I am not the despair; nor is the despair me."

"The power of SEEING is stronger than any negative emotion."

"The power of SEEING is stronger than any negative thought."

When you truly See—you Understand. With understanding comes peace. We fear only that which we do not understand. Only that which we do not understand has the false power to control us.

Question & Answer

I received this question from a (very dedicated) student today, which actually contains its own answer. Your lesson QUESTIONS addresses the importance of asking questions from deep within and waiting for answers that come, not from the mind, but from the heart. She is presently reading the lesson TOGETHER AS ONE, and says,

"Somewhere in the lesson, it states that we should show up for ourselves so that we can heal... I forget the exact wording. Anyway, is it possible that these lessons have the power of healing?

I have just made this experience of becoming aware of a trauma which happened prenatal which was very painful and while still unconscious of it made me hurt other people. Might the lesson be guiding me on my path of healing?"

Yes, just showing up and reading your lessons brings you close to Truth, and Truth is always healing. The energy of the Angels is contained within each lesson, in the space between the words.

By keeping company with your lessons, you are keeping company with the exquisite energy of the Angels.

Whomever, whatever, you keep company with on a regular basis affects you, changes you—for better or worse. Energy is real and energy is shared. So spend as much time as you can with your lessons, higher energies, nature, and whatever supports your highest learning and evolving.

She also wrote this message of Gratitude for her lesson, for which I am grateful:

Thank you for this beautiful carefully crafted thoughtfully rich lesson. There is so much wisdom in it that I am soaking it up like a sponge. I have even attempted to write in my diary.  Thank you for putting so much time, effort, diligence and love into these lessons.

The Lord is my Shepherd

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.

2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For Thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anoint my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

♥ Kindness Meditation ♥

POEM TO MYSELF

When in doubt, be kind

I can be firm and still be kind

I can be honest and still be kind

I can tend the little seeds of kindness within me

I can shine when the world seems dark

so the tiny seeds

are not afraid

to grow

I can close my eyes

and breathe in kindness

I can let kindness fill me

There is no benevolent reason

for meeting hostility with hostility

no kind reason for perpetuating little wars

God knows there's more than enough war

out there

already.

Kindness Meditation

Place the palm of one hand on your heart with your fingers wide open. Hold it there and just feel. Feel what is. Be soft. Open. Receptive. Feel the energy between your hand and your heart.

Remove that hand and place your other hand over your heart. Be there with the energy. Notice if there is any difference between the two hands.

Which hand to you prefer to hold over your heart? Notice this and place that hand over your heart. Then place your opposite hand over that hand. When you can, close your eyes for a moment and give your full attention to your hands on your heart.

Feel the exchange of energy, from hand to heart, heart to hand. Feel the energy circulating. Notice how your breathing becomes deeper and more relaxed as you continue this meditation. Your heart is the real container for your spirit. It’s where your spirit resides, like a pure bright crystal, emanating light and love and life. In your heart is Life. Is Love. Is Light.

Life. Light. Love.

Thank God for the writers and artists, the musicians, and sages.

Because you're not what I would have you be, I blind myself to who, in truth, you are. Madeleine L'Engle

And when we do this ― we blind ourselves to who, in Truth, we are. What we do to others, we do to ourselves.

Madeleine L'Engle was a wonderful writer of children's books, books for adults, and poetry. Her book, A Wrinkle in Time, was one of the first books I read as a child which began to wake me up to Reality to what I knew in my heart was true. Thank God for the writers and artists, the musicians and sages.

The very first book from my young childhood, which showed me what I knew deep inside, was one I have also written a lesson about
Miss Hickory, by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey. It revealed to me that we all have hard hickory nut heads. We must begin the spiritual journey to melt into the softness of our heart which is the only true strength.

The 3rd book from childhood that I also I fell in love with was, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnettt, published in 1911. This book was also about the spiritual journey, of growing from darkness to light.

We must all grow from darknessc our negative thoughts, feelings, and actions to the Light of Truth.

AWAKEN TO YOUR COSMIC RICHES

"HOW TO AWAKEN TO YOUR COSMIC RICHES"

The contrasting lives of two famous teachers show the difference between Forced Living and Easy Flow.

CONFUCIUS was an advocate of correct public behavior. He taught good manners, social reform, and submission to man-made moral codes. He offered shallow formulas for getting through life, admitting that his platitudes were borrowed from other men. The inner life of cosmic peace was unknown to Confucius; he himself was a victim of Forced Living.

LAO-TSE was the exact opposite. He cared nothing for the public parading of self-proclaimed virtues. He pointed out that human rules of conduct do not make men truly moral; to the contrary, they supply clever masks for hypocrisy and cruelty. As for living by popular slogans, they create mass misery and national neurosis. Lao-tse stressed individual effort toward personal freedom, teaching that happiness lies in a spontaneous outflowing of one's natural self. Lao-tse was himself a living example of Easy Flow."

On Death and Dying...

Dear Students,

A student wrote to me regarding the death of her father. There has always been conflict with her family. She did not know her father was ill from Covid and had died in the hospital, so she did not see him. Her mother wrote to her that she should not attend the funeral, so this student is asking what she should do. This is my response to her.

Dear ____

Of course, it is a decision only you can make deep in your heart.

He is your father. His life and his death are between you and him...and God. No one else.

The past — is past. Whatever letter your wrote, even that is past. The present is now. If your family wants to hold onto the past that is their misfortune.

YOU can choose to live now. You do not have to be bound by the past, even your own. The past has already been burned in the fire of time.

Your mother's letter to you does not come from her heart, which always seeks love and unity, but from her mind.

YOU do not have to live from your mind, except at a practical level.

There will be reactions among the family if you attend the funeral service. If you attend, can you be strong enough within yourself to not react to their reactions in a way that will bring you down?

Can you simply attend with dignity and love because you feel it is the right thing for you?

Most important is to avoid regret. The mind is very good at causing regret. Regret is useless because the past is the past. If you don't attend the funeral, will you feel regret later?

A funeral is simply a social function where people come together because death is so final, so hard and the living must find ways to deal with it. That is the significance of a funeral to help people deal with their grief, say farewell, support each other, and move on. It's not for the dead, but for the living.

It is unlikely that you will feel supported by your family. So going to the funeral must be because you choose to take your place as the eldest child because it is your place. You can claim your place no matter what anyone says.

Do what brings peace to your heart and soul.

This is your father. His death is a completion of your soul journey together on earth. His spirit is free now, on his new journey. You can honor your soul journey with your father no matter what.

Do not let your family make this important decision for you. Do not let outer circumstances tell you what to do (except at practical levels). Use this time to enter into your heart and soul to find what is right for you.

You do not need their permission to tell you what to do. You do not have to please them. You must only be pleasing unto God. When you please God, you are pleased.

Angels live by no prescribed rules. Angels do not need rules to govern them, because angels are governed by love. Angels are not trying to please anyone. Angels know their being is pleasing to God. This is all an angel needs to know. Angels are free and spontaneous because they do not have to decide if what they are going to do or say will please you. Angels are completely open because angels have nothing to hide.

If you do travel, travel safe...because of Covid. Wearing a mask at the funeral will help keep you safe from Covid, and protect others — and it may also help keep you safe emotionally.

I am sorry for your father's illness and death without you by his side.

With deepest love, as always,
Indira

Question & Answer

A student asked recently if there is an afterlife?

The question isn't really, Do you have an "after" life—it's do you have a life NOW? The moment of NOW is all there ever is, and yet we choose instead to live in mental dreams of past and future.

Competition

I often get email questions from students, which I respond toeventually. When I post them here, I remove identifying information. This student said he felt competitive with a friend of his, which bothered him, since he didn't want to feel this way.

I replied...Of course, you know there's nothing to compare. Of course, you do, but such feelings are not logical, or they'd never exist.

You and he are different people. Seek to be true to your nature, not his (the mental construct you create about him). He is quite lovely at expressing his nature, and you are equally lovely at expressing yours. SO remind yourself that any thought of competition comes from the dark side. Not from the light. Not from Truth. Just observe it.

The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

It's madness

to hate all roses
because you got scratched with one thorn,
to give up all dreams
because one of them didn't come true,
to give up all attempts
because one of them failed.
It's folly to condemn all your friends
because one has betrayed you,
to no longer believe in love
just because someone was unfaithful
or didn't love you back,
to throw away all your chances to be happy
because something went wrong.
There will always be another opportunity,
another friend,
another love,
a new strength.
For every end,
there is always a new beginning.....
And now here is my secret,
a very simple secret:
It is only with the heart
that one can see rightly;
what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Cartoon Wisdom

THE OCEAN

My body is the ocean

Shining beneath the moonlight

I rise up to meet the shore

And back again

To meet my destiny

My mantra

Is the sound of waves

My meditation

Is upon my own sweet self

My passion flows like honey

My sighs are sighs of love

I sink into my own depths

And know that I Am God.
