For Your Health

Dear Students, I am posting this new way to drink coffee. I've been drinking it this way and it really is amazing. I feel energized and satisfied. Sometimes I add also Kerrygold Irish grass fed butter. And honey. And cinnamon--good for keeping blood sugar levels normal. If you try it, let me know how you like it! Have some with your morning Open Classroom. Smile.

P.S. I grind my own organic coffee beans and use a French Press.

Coconut Oil Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Coffee (preferably organic).
  • 1-2 Teaspoons of Coconut Oil
  • Note: You can use coffee substitutes like Dandy Blend in the recipes instead.
  • Stevia (optional)
  • Raw Honey (optional)
  • Coconut Sugar (optional)
  • Gelatin (optional)
  • Vanilla Extract (optional)
  • Peppermint Extract (optional)
  • Whatever mix-in you like!

Instructions:

  1. Carefully pour your coffee into your blender cup.
  2. Add coconut oil and any other goodies you want (I usually add a tablespoon of gelatin and a teaspoon of raw honey).
  3. Place the lid on your blender then blend up your coffee. You’ll notice that the coconut oil and coffee will froth up, all fancy like! Way better than Starbucks, guys!
  4. Once blended, pour it into your cup and get your drink on.

3 Reasons To Add Coconut Oil To Your Coffee

    1. Coconut Oil Increases Your Energy
As I mentioned above, coconut oil gives you energy! How does this work? Well, coconut oil is made up of MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides). MCTs are more rapidly absorbed by the body and are quickly metabolized as fuel (not stored as fat).

    2. Coconut Oil Speeds Up The Metabolism
When you eat MTCs (like in coconut oil) this results in accelerated metabolic conversion! That is, instead of being stored as fat, the calories contained in MCTs are very efficiently converted into fuel for immediate use by the body.
According to this study, researchers assembled 40 female volunteers between the ages of 20 and 40 who suffered from abdominal obesity. Over a 12-week period, the women were given a daily dietary supplement comprising of 30 milliliters of either soybean oil or coconut oil. At the end of the 12-week study, the researchers found that the women who were given the coconut oil experienced a significant reduction in both BMI and waist circumference, as well as an increase in “good” HDL cholesterol. These results were not found in the group that was given soybean oil. “It appears that dietetic supplementation with coconut oil does not cause dyslipidemia and seems to promote a reduction in abdominal obesity.”

    3. Coconut Oil Boosts The Immune System
Almost 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil is Lauric Acid (aka the super healthy fats found in human breast milk). Lauric acid is potent in antimicrobial properties. According to WebMD lauric acid is used for treating, “viral infections including influenza (the flu); swine flu; avian flu; the common cold; fever blisters, cold sores, and genital herpes caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV); genital warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV); and HIV/AIDS. It is also used for preventing the transmission of HIV from mothers to children.”
Now that you know how amazing coconut oil is for your health let me show you how to make it taste fabulous in your coffee! Coconut oil coffee is amazingly delicious!
