Every sleeping person is convinced he is awake. -Vernon Howard
Yes, as your lessons teach you -- the most important step on your spiritual path is to know that you are unconscious (asleep). If you do not know you are asleep, how can you wake up? Sleeping people believe they are awake!!! This accounts for most everyone in the world. Sleeping people walk around believing they are awake.
So be one of the few. REALIZE YOU ARE ASLEEP! This is your only hope for waking up. Every problem in your life happens because you are asleep.

Yes, we might think we are the dreamer--but do we realize we are also the dreamed? That thought makes me -- humble -- and stops my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am always interested in what other students have to say. Unfortunately, they seem to have very little to say. Well, there is lots of space here, and I am grateful for that, grateful that I have a place to stop by and write day or night.

ReplyDeleteI'm still here, Kevin- and I have heard that you'd like to "see" that some more. I know that, too. I have found it a good lesson to have found myself "on my own" with my expectations and wishes. As I take it from your writings, you do, too.
ReplyDeleteSo - just wanted to let you know. :-)
And not even doing what you've always wanted to do is an answer, hm?! That's a hard nut (thats a german phrase), isn't it. Not even when I do the things, be what I always wanted....
Is it, because it comes from longing, from some kind of 'if only'...
Because when I'm longing for that, I am not fully loving myself NOW... When I fully love myself now it does not matter what I wanted, what I do, though I might do what I have always wanted to.
but I am way too deep asleep. I dream that I see some light.
I have a confused mind. What if where I think my calm heart is, there is ego, telling me so to keep me asleep? It must be so, because asleep is asleep, so I must be FULLY asleep. No?
Can anything I realize in my sleep be Real?!
Can anything I realize in my sleep be Real?!
ReplyDeleteVery good question, Petra. As you know--even from your first lesson--it is the questions we ask that are important. And being still and patient, listening for an answer that does not come from the mind. The mind cannot answer higher spiritual questions, but they can come through the mind from God.
I like to read the ways you are thinking, feeling, contemplating. Just asking and contemplating is a good place to be. When you ask with a sincere desire (longing, even!) to know Truth, Truth will respond.
When you take a step towards Truth, Truth takes a step towards you. This is universal law (as you read in the heading of the Open Classroom).
You said a lot in this post, Petra. Perhaps more than you know. Keep contemplating and being open for higher answers.
