Hot Chocoate and Spirituality

Okay, I know this post below isn't really "spiritual" in the sense that we think of spritual, but I happen to missing home about now, and saw this--and it is in one of my favorite places, Little Tokyo in L.A. and so I can go there when I return for hot chocolate. Anyone care to join me?

In reality, life is spiritual when we live fully in the present moment. It is only our being absent from NOW that makes us feel less than alive. We can only be alive NOW. We can experience life fully only in the PRESENT. And the present is divine.

What do you think divinity is, anyway? What do you think God is? What do you think spirituality is?

Spirituality is not an idea in your mind. It is an actual experience. It is the experience of being divinely absolutely present in your life. We are so often not present because we are afraid of life. We are afraid of feeling intensely. We are just afraid. Fear is the only thing that keeps us from a full experience of this Divine Moment.

The moment is divine when you are there. And so are you.

20. Demitasse (Los Angeles, CA)

Even if the cold never really hits Los Angeles, you’ll easily find an excuse to warm up at Demitasse. This cafĂ© in Little Tokyo serves a sophisticated Lavender Liquid Hot Chocolate that pairs slightly bitter hot chocolate with the floral notes of lavender and the sweet, caramel flavors of a homemade toasted marshmallow.

  1. Hello my dear Teacher ,
I have to say I love catching up with the classroom posts-
this was a bit harder to do ,when I was in switzerland.
Since you have been gone for a while -
I'm sure your first hot chocolate will taste even more special.
We may can get a group together for a sunday-special.

I talked to a friend of mine ,who spends every year time in different convents and on her last one she met the abbess of one in the mountain of switzerland.
Her story how she actually became a nun is truly amazing.
She was already engaged to a lovely guy,but had always thought of
becoming a nun and be closer to god.
Her wedding day came closer and one day she visited a monastery
with her future husband. She often prayed, thinking it would make things easier .
When they left the church ,she waited for her fiancee to come out of the church-he went back to buy candles ,
During that time a nun and a group of kids came out of a forest telling her that they got lost and she had no idea why this happened .
She knew instinctively why and told the nun -it was a sign for her.She broke off her relationship and has been there at the convent ever since
She's now 93 and said she was grateful that she had such a wonderful life.
It impresses me how important desires are to be close to god and steps people take to do so.
    happy halloween everyone.
    love ursula

  2. Quite a story. And a long life. A life without regrets of what she might have done.
