Christmas Eve
Here is a playful exercise that can help you be more flexible, humble, unpretentious, and respectful. All you need is imagination—and a sense of humor.
TAKING YOURSELF AS LIGHTLY AS ANGELS DO
The next time you experience an ego conflict with someone, visualize the person turning into a blob of jelly right before your eyes—lime green jelly! Imagine that all you see is a blob of talking, gesturing, scowling, quivering, sparkling, lime-green jelly—translucent—that the light shines through—like a halo. Now imagine that your own feet begin to feel squishy. You glance down and realize that your feet are turning green! You are turning into lime-green jelly, too—translucent—that the light shines through—like a halo! You take a deep breath of fresh air and let it go. You are free! You have always been free. The light shines, radiates, and sparkles around you. The light shines, radiates, and sparkles around the other person. Words continue to come out of that person’s mouth, but now everything is happening in slow motion. You can see each word in technicolor. You can grasp each word and hold onto it—or you can let the words go—let them flow—into the atmosphere and dissolve into space. You are that free! You smile upon that person. You breathe deeply. You are that free! You always have been!

The Poet Saint Miribai -Listen-
Mirabai is one of my favorite poet saints. Her life is very interesting and inspiring. You can read more here, if you like: http://www.biographyonline.net/spiritual/mirabai.html
Here is one of her poems, a morning gift for you--at least it is early morning where I am. My sweet little dog is cuddled up sleeping. She is getting older now and I watch her changing. It is what time does. Therefore we must constantly let our vision move towards THAT which does not change, THAT which gives life to all things, and become THAT.
Listen
Listen, my friend, this road is the heart opening, kissing his feet, resistance broken, tears all night.
If we could reach the Lord through immersion in water, I would have asked to be born a fish in this life. If we could reach Him through nothing but berries and wild nuts, then surely the saints would have been monkeys when they came from the womb!
If we could reach him by munching lettuce and dry leaves, then the goats would surely get to the Holy One before us! If the worship of stone statues could bring us all the way, I would have adored a granite mountain years ago.

Letting go of anger...
I came across this quote (below) -- from a Swedish father whose young son went missing many years ago. A man confessed to killing his son -- (as well as many other people, making him a serial killer) -- but years later, these turned out to be false confessions -- which meant the father still does not know what happened to his son. I thought what Asplund (the father) said regarding this was interesting:
With his son dead and the killer still at large, does Asplund feel betrayed? He answers with another question: "What can you do about it? I don't think being angry will help me. Whatever happens, you have to focus on the future and go forward. You have to make the decision about whether you want to live or not. And if the choice is to live, you have to live your full life. You can't spend it sitting in the corner, thinking about what happened.”

Angel email
Dearest Students,
Here is a copy of an email I sent to a client -- not a student -- so she doesn't have your same understanding, since you work constantly with the angelic principals of Truth, but she does have her own path. She is very physically challenged, and asked about healing at a spiritual level. Though everyone who is physically challenged or sick must continue always to work at a physical level, a spiritual understanding is also vital. I gave her a reading, and here is the email I also sent her. Perhaps you will benefit from it. I have removed identifying information, of course.

PAGE VIEWS 12,065
Just thought you'd like to see the page views for Your Open Classroom -- this is the number of times Your Open Classroom has been viewed since it first opened. Smile. I know this because it automatically keeps track, all by itself. I usually don't check the stats, but I did today. Here it is:
Page views all time history -- 12,065
So -- even though most of you don't write here, you do read here. I know personally the benefits of putting forth the extra effort to write here, because I do it. I know, I know, you have to open your computer, open the page, click here and click there. You actually have to do something. That is the point, isn't it? Doing something that is beneficial for your spiritual life? And sometimes we can go the extra mile. We can ask, how can I benefit the Open Classroom? What can I add to the School? How can I be of service? Thinking in this way allows us to go outside our own little box (ego). We are here on earth not to let the ego run the show, but to show up for our spiritual self. Come out of the forest of ego! Show up for your own sweet soul that wants so much to grow.
Ask yourself: Who or what is running my life most of the day?
Stay healthy dear Students
If you are gluten free, try Millet - Or even if you aren't. Millet is so GOOD for you, and so good!
Millet is gluten-free, non-acid-forming and non-allergenic, so it’s a fantastic option for people following a gluten-free diet or wrestling with digestive issues. It also contains the following nutrients:
●protein (tissue-building)
●iron (blood-building)
●B vitamins (energy-providing)
●magnesium (heart-healthy)
●phosphorus (bone- and teeth-strengthening)
●insoluble fiber (aiding in digestion and the absorption of nutrients)
Millet has a mildly sweet flavor very similar to that of corn or grits. You can do so many things with it. Or just eat it plain with maple syrup or honey or olive oil or almond milk. Or make it into salad.

Ginger-Scallion Root Tea
This
is a curative formula traditionally used in Chinese households as a
specific remedy for colds, flu and other bronchial ailments that are
accompanied by fever. (The Chinese generally believe that hot tea should
not be used for colds accompanied by fever.) Author Nina Simonds says
this is what she drinks when she knows she's going to be traveling a lot
and exposed to many people's germs.
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 6 to 8 quarter-size slices ginger root (unpeeled), smashed lightly with the side of a knife
- 6 to 8 scallions, white parts only
- 2 to 3 teaspoons raw sugar, honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 cups water
Directions
Place
the ginger slices and scallions in a small pot (preferably glass or
ceramic) and add the sweetener, sea salt and water. Bring to a boil over
high heat and stir well, then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook
for 10 minutes. Strain and serve hot.

Beyond Cliches . . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4znrNtLKDE4
Most of you have read Lesson 15 -- Rising Above Cliches - This video is a nice reminder to live life fully and stay positive. It also mentions Oxfam (one of my favorite places to shop when I am in Mainz with Monika). As Lesson 15 says -- you do not have to grow old according to society's standards. You can live as young as you like! By the way, different classes may have the same lessons with different numbers, because I may have made changes, decided to leave out a lesson. The very first class, of course, has received each lesson.

You are invited to post your picture as a baby or a child...
Here is a photo of me when I was very little. I invite you to post your picture, too! If you don't know how, send it to me, and I will post it for you. Look at the picture of yourself as a tiny child. Think about all the experiences that have happened to that child. What do you wish were different for her/him. How would you have taken care of yourself differently? What would you give yourself that you never had? Can you imagine holding the sweet innocent little child you once were? Can you imagine how much you might love that child?
Well, it's not too late. It is never too late for love. The little child does live as part of you. I am not talking about your inner child. I am talking about an actual part of you. Every age you ever were lives as part of you. It is never too late to give yourself the love you want. It is never too late to receive love from a Higher Source. Don't wait for someone else to give you what you want, what you need. Open your heart and give it to yourself.
Find a picture of yourself as a child or a baby. Look at the sweet joyful innocence of that sweet little face--know that it is still there. Open yourself to receiving all the love there is. Open your heart and love, love, love the sweet innocent child of your past, of your present. Stop blaming others for what they did not give, and give to yourself what you think you need, what you want.

How to interact with an introvert...
This is interesting . . .

on not being together...
Of course you should give yourself permission to leave a relationship that is toxic to you. If you have done everything you can and there is still more bad than good in a relationship, then it is time to make a change. People who just give up because they don't want to work on a relationship (which means working on themselves) -- end up just making a lateral, horizontal move. But when you work hard on the relationship (which means you work hard on yourself) - then even if you leave the relationship - you are making an upward move.
Someone sent me this today, and I rather like it --

Here is a poem I wrote . . .
Writers write. I am currently working (again) on my murder mystery (in between writing angel messages and angel lessons. The murder mystery is called, A Work of . . . Art? It is quite nice. What do you love to do? What fulfills you and brings you joy? Do you make time for what brings you joy? Here is the poem.

On being together....
Dear Ones,
Let's talk for a moment about relationships, specifically committed relationships. A committed relationship can, of course, be between two people of the same sex, so anything I say about two people of the opposite sex can be applied to people with same sex relationships. But for our purposes, I will assume male/female relationships.
Relationships are often painful--although it is not really the relationship itself that is painful--it is always something inside us. The problem is always where the pain is, and if the pain is in you, guess where the problem is?
When a couple experiences a lot of pain in their relationship, they often go into very mechanical reactions--primitive biological reactions: Fight. Flight. Or paralysis.
We can see these reactions in animals. The animal either stays and fights, runs way, or gets paralyzed with fear because it doesn't know what else to do. What do you do? What is your most common reaction?
As human beings, we have other possibilities. One of these is to talk about the problem and try to find harmonious solutions. Unfortunately, women usually like to talk more than men do--not always--there are exceptions, but usually.
What we have to remember as spiritual students is that the ego (false self) thrives on drama. If you find yourself in negative, hurtful conflict with another person, fighting, unable to get along, then something that is not your heart--something that is not the other person's heart--has taken over the relationship, like a parasite, and is living off your energy. Something dark and negative.
In this world, so many marriages end in divorce. This means people are forgetting about commitment and taking flight. Mostly, they just take flight into another relationship and start the flight or fight or paralysis all over again.
Human beings have the possibility to rise above all mechanical reactions. But it takes a lot of work. It takes a spiritual commitment. It means understanding that you are a spiritual being living out your life in a physical body. You are here for something higher. You are here to make contact with something higher than your ordinary thinking.

Fall Back...
...is what we say each year when we set the clocks back one hour, for those places that do. Arizona doesn't change their time, ever. Today is also the Indian celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, so Happy Diwali! I love the idea of a festival of lights! Speaking of light, here is a photo of some of the people from the seminar in Maulburg, Germany in October. It was only a short time ago I was there! Maybe you recognize some of these people -- some are your classmates! Can you see any of them? There are 9 of your classmates here -- if you include me.
