The Locked Door

Dearest Classmates & Students, the other day I was knocking on the door of someone who was supposed to be home. The doorbell wasn't working. There was lots of snow and I was standing in it, since the walk was not shoveled. I knocked and knocked. After awhile, I could feel impatience arising within me. I knocked harder. No answer. I called out. No answer. Now, there was a very very ill person inside (my sister-in-law) with her seventeen year old daughter and autistic son, so I was concerned. My imagination was telling me stories about what might be happening inside. I could feel anger arising when I thought the daughter (my niece) just wasn't answering the door. I called her cell phone. No answer. More anger arose. Finally, I left.

The next day my mom and I went back to the house. And guess what? I found out I had been at the wrong house the day before. I had been knocking on the wrong door!

Everything is a lesson in the schoolroom of earth, when we let it be. I never once thought the problem could be mine. I just assumed I was knocking on the right door. My working mind was not working! Only my thinking mind was active--actively telling me false stories! Since I believed I was at the right house, I never stopped to question that belief. Of course, had my niece answered her cell phone, the problem could have been resolved. But she didn't.

So for me the lesson is: Am I knocking on the right door? Often we knock on the wrong door and wonder why we can't get in, why life is so difficult. This lesson taught me that when that happens, I can ask this question: Am I knocking on the right door? If I've tried every other solution available to me, and the door still hasn't opened, then what is wrong? Is the problem outside of me, or inside? 

So if life isn't going as smoothly as you'd like, if you've tried everything, then maybe it's time to stop and ask yourself harder questions. You can question the beliefs that are keeping you knocking on a door that will never open for you. Maybe it is time to turn around. Go in another direction. Look for new possibilities.

I know this is a very deep lesson for me, which will continue to teach me for a long time to come. I hope you also receive value from it. This is what happens when we share with each other -- not just when things are 'happy' for us -- but when we encounter lessons that teach and heal and bring us closer to Truth. This is why we have Your Open Classroom where we can come together and share.

The ego never wants us to share its limitations and humiliations. The ego wants to keep itself hidden in darkness, keep us feeling too ashamed to expose it to the light. The ego is a vampire! When exposed to the light, it disappears. It's illusory nature is exposed. This is how we evolve. Evolution is the nature of God, of Truth, of all things beautiful and all things possible.

Life on earth is not about achieving a sudden anything. The angels want us to give up the idea that we have to 'get' somewhere. We have nowhere to go, only somewhere to BE. When you are being in awareness, you can use everything that happens to you to learn and grow from. For so long as you are on earth in a physical body, learning and evolution continue.

Thinking that you can stop learning because you've 'made' it -- is surefire proof that the ego has claimed your supposed 'enlightenment.' This is what is 'wrong' about so many spiritual teachers today. They believe (believe!) they've made it. Made it where? There is nowhere to go! The whole point of being on earth is to learn that we are in a constant state of evolution. The entire universe, all of nature, is in this state.

We are not so different from nature. When we have the humility to recognize this, we can sense our oneness with everything. We can humbly observe nature all around us. We can let nature be our teacher. We can allow ourselves to be in a constant state of evolution, no matter how highly we evolve. We can stop thinking there is somewhere to go, other than where we are. We can just be. Completely. Wholey. Eternally. Here. In the Present Moment. Now. Evolving. We can recognize that creation is in every moment. We can never step in the same river once. Love, Indira & the angels
