FULL WOLF MOON

The grey wolf
moves like satin
against the grey mountain
her breath rising
like smoke
in the cold air
her yellow eyes seeing
everywhere
and the hunter
she sees too and turns
making her way back
longing
for the silence
not the thunderous sound
that opens her side
like a scarlet flower
blossoming upon the
frozen ground.
