Dear classmates, dear teacher
I am a very good clarinette student. My teacher agreed with this statement ( because it is so ). This morning I woke up with the tought: I never can play clarinette again. The fear that came with it was: what happens, when I stay beeing a very good student ? What, when I do it always right ? What is then going to happen? I am so used to make mistakes and beeing an average student, and to apolagize for beeing not so good, for making mistakes. Isn't it strange ? Why can't I just be a very good student ?
Thank you all for listening to the pain I am in right now.
Love to you
Monika
Thank you for using the Classroom to share the story of your mind, Monika. Isn't it amazing how these stories can cause pain. Bringing our thoughts into awareness is the most important thing we can do for our spiritual upliftment. You and your fingers are on an amazing journey of fun, play, and learning. We are all on that journey, except when we forget it.
ReplyDeletekeep on playing monika!
ReplyDeleteMonika, the great musician Thelonious Monk told Abbey Lincoln, another famous musician, when she was just getting started, don't be so perfect. She said he meant, don't be afraid to make a mistake.
ReplyDeleteThere is a CD called MUSIC FOR ZEN MEDITATION AND OTHER JOYS, on the Verve label by Tony Scott. It is him improvising with the clarinet with a Japanese koto player and it is a classic. It is completely spiritual and beautiful and if you have a problem finding it, let me know. Tony Scott lives in Japan now. The clarinet is a beautiful voice for expressing yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you Hirth for your encouriging words. I just thought about looking for CD's with clarinette music so I am gratefull for the hint about the music. I will look that I find it. My teacher encoureged me to emprovise in F dur and I love this. I learn a lot about music. And yes, you are right, clarinette is a very beautiful voice to express.
ReplyDeleteHi Hirth and Monika, I know that CD by Tony Scott. It is beautiful. Monika, I know for myself that it is just the voice of SOCIETY, which you think is your own, telling you that you have to be the "perfect" student. That is not your true voice. You are finding your true voice when you play your clarinet. That is what I think!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hirth for telling me about the CD. I found it and I like it very much.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for you
Monika
And Kevin, you like this music too, so we have something in common. So you on your place and me on my place enoy the same music.
