Burbank, CA

This cozy little place is where the chickens and duck live.
Dear Students,
I've been doing very hard physical and emotional work each day as I clear out the storage area where the items from my last 20 years with Hirth have been living. Hopefully by the end of May that task will be accomplished. Letting go. Giving away. Throwing away. Shipping what remains. I've never been an accumulator of physical possessions, but they do accumulate anyway. I haven't much space in between working and recovering from working and working some more. Maybe I am building muscles from all the heavy lifting. Well, time to start the day again. I awake at 6am and now it is almost 7am. Thinking of you and wishing you well from the depths of my heart and soul.

Smile

Merryweather

This is Merryweather who lives in the backyard here in Burbank where I am staying with our classmate, Janet. Merryweather is content because she has just laid an egg. We can be content also when we accept the simplicity of the present moment and do not demand more than the day offers.

Try Meditation

Meditation is calming. It helps you contact your Inner Teacher, your Inner Healer, your Inner Everything. There are so many worlds we can inhabit. In our school we want to inhabit the world of the Self, the Primordial One. We want to live in a world of  deep and profound simplicity, which is happiness. It is possible. I am here to tell you: It is possible. No matter what you have gone through, no matter what you are going through. You are not meant to suffer. You are not meant to go through life suffering from a feeling of lack, loss, fear, and limitation. You can have all the energy you need when you let Something Higher live your life for you. The body grows tired after a long day, after hard physical work. This happens. And you do not have to lose your mental clarity. You do not have to become spiritually tired. All the energy you need exists for you. Here. Now.

From Lesson 90 - are you there yet?

People who are out of touch with their emotions are also out of touch with their bodies. So get to know your body. Make friends with your body. You are not your body, but it is the temple of your spirit, so do not neglect it. Do not ignore it, not at any level. Awareness doesn’t mean being aware of just some things; it means being aware of all things.

Burbank, CA message today

I am writing this from Burbank, CA, where I still am for awhile longer.

See in new ways today. Be absolutely aware of your eyes through which seeing happens. Look into someone’s eyes when they talk to you. Focus on seeing in a new way, without your usual filters, without your mind telling you what you see, without your fears of other people, places, or things. See intently. See as if you care, really care about the other person and what they are saying. Forget about what you want  to say next and listen. Listen with your eyes. See with your eyes. Let your eyes communicate. Let your seeing tell you what you are seeing, instead of your mind. Let your seeing be intelligent. Be divinely intelligent. Divinely present.
Much love

The next time you find yourself frustrated by anything at all, by something that isn’t working, something that is not going your way or the way it usually goes, stop, pause, take a breath. Calm yourself. Feel yourself in your body, touching the chair or the floor or the ground, and ask yourself, “What am I supposed to be learning right now? Is there a message here for me? Am I trying to force my will? How do I feel? Am I stressed and full of tension? Am I putting unnecessary strain upon my body, my mind, my heart? Am I supposed to be going another way, trying something new, letting go, or should I persevere?” And do your best to open to what you are not open to. Let yourself open to newness, and the moment will be new. Stress will vanish.

Much love from your friendly teacher and classmate

on angel wings message

Why do you try so hard to control the next moment? Then you have no energy to live this moment. An endless cascade of light flows through you. You are a brook flowing merrily down a mountainside. Why think you are the rocks you pass over?

Wisdom

The law of gravitation is only half known to the world of science, which believes that the earth attracts all that belongs to it. This is true. But the spirit also attracts all that belongs to it, and that other side to the law of gravitation has always been known to the mystics. - Hazrat Inayat Khan

School of Angels

There was once a School of True Wisdom. An angel stood on guard before it, blocking entrance at the front gate. One morning a seeker approached the gate and asked admittance. The angel told him, ‘If I step aside and you enter here, you will see that you have been a shameless faker all your life.’

The seeker answered, ‘I wish to enter. Please step aside.' The angel then said to the seeker, ‘If I step aside and you enter here, you must abandon all your usual and beloved hopes and ambitions.' The seeker said, ‘I wish to come in. Please step aside.'

The angel continued, ‘If I step aside and you enter here, you will come face to face with every evil and secret thought you have ever thought.’ The seeker replied, ‘I wish to go inside. Please step aside.' The angel smiled and stepped aside.”

Quote from Vernon Howard which sums up the spiritual path and The Clear and Simple Way School of Angels. It is not for the weak hearted. The only way to the Light is through the dark forest of ego. Do you wish to journey there?

Freedom is freedom from worry. Having realized that you cannot influence the results, pay no attention to your desires and fears. Let them come and go. Don't give them the nourishment of interest and attention. -Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

The Mind

I saw this and couldn't resist posting it here. Yes, an undisciplined, uncared for mind can be like cobwebs in our heads! There is really nothing wrong with the brain. The brain works fine in the rain, in the pain, keeping us safe and sane. (I feel like rhyming today). The practical mind serves us well, when we let it. There IS a space between each thought. You may have heard this before. But you may not have listened to it. Please keep this in mind. There IS a space between each thought!

Tibetan Proverb

"The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure." Tibetan Proverb

I saw this and liked it very much. Loving without measure -- such a beautiful thought. Even more beautiful -- Being Love Without Measure. Love has no measure. Hate, violence, anger, greed, competition, revenge. They all have a measure. We measure ourselves against other people. We measure what we get, what we give, what we have. Love without measure -- and there is peace.

Angels Surround You

°°★*
Angels around you, angels surround you in the healing light of peace and understanding now and forever. Now is the only forever. Past and future exist in the mind’s misunderstandings. Now exists in the perfect understanding of your true Self. Angels around you, angels surround you in the  clear light of Truth. -

Have you read Lao Tzu?

One of my favorite Teachers from long ago. Born 601 BC, Died at Age 70 - 531 BC, Founder/Co-Founder of the Chinese philosophical ‘School of the Tao’ or ‘Taoism’ Lao Tzu created one of the most important Chinese texts, the Tao Te Ching.
  • If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you are not afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve.
  • He who defines himself can’t know who he really is.
  • Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained.
  • Give evil nothing to oppose and it will disappear by itself.
  • Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?
  • Express yourself completely, then keep quiet. Be like the forces of nature: when it blows, there is only wind; when it rains, there is only rain; when the clouds pass, the sun shines through.
  • Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.
  • New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
  • If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.

Habits

https://www.facebook.com/AnderssenLuc/videos/1688239314762554/?fref=nf
I have written 3 lessons about habits, Parts I, II, and III -- which some of you have read by now. This is a very interesting video on how human beings are socialized. It is more comfortable to "follow the crowd" then to think for one's self. It is uncomfortable to be different from the crowd.
