One of my favorite Teachers from long ago. Born 601 BC, Died at Age 70 - 531 BC, Founder/Co-Founder of the Chinese philosophical ‘School of the Tao’ or ‘Taoism’ Lao Tzu created one of the most important Chinese texts, the Tao Te Ching.
- If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you are not afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve.
- He who defines himself can’t know who he really is.
- Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained.
- Give evil nothing to oppose and it will disappear by itself.
- Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?
- Express yourself completely, then keep quiet. Be like the forces of nature: when it blows, there is only wind; when it rains, there is only rain; when the clouds pass, the sun shines through.
- Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.
- New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
- If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.
