Love

“The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we see in them.”
—Thomas Merton (1915-1968) Trappist Monk

  1. I love this quote by Thomas Merton. I think this somehow also applies to ourselves: The beginning of love is to let myself be perfectly as I am... I don't have to be anyone else because of social norms and expectations.

I can even accept my "flaws" and weakness referred to as such as they are right now. And I might or might not change anything about them. My value and love is not defined by them.

However some things I might have to change in life as an act of self-love e.g. setting boundaries, sometimes saying no to others and by that saying yes to myself.

Love and loving acceptance do not contradict change. I can accept and love myself as I am today, while taking the necessary measures to become someone else. Someone who is at peace. Someone who is triggered less. Someone who does not make others responsible for my own emotiones...Someone who lets the light shine through.

  2. I can see how much you have grown in understanding, Manuela. The value in writing for yourself is that you can see it too. A higher wisdom flows through and you become your own Teacher. Keep letting that light shine through. Love, Indira
