This is a bit of poetry by one of my favorite writer-poets who has since died. The words can be complicated to comprehend even if English is your first language and you like poetry. If you have trouble understanding it, let me know, and I'll say more.

Because you're not what I would have you be
I blind myself to who, in truth, you are.
Seeking mirage where desert blooms, I mar
Your you. Aaah, I would like to see
Past all delusions to reality:
Then I would see God's image in your face.
