yes, these are healing words, Monika -- especially when we are falsely told by society that we must "be" someone, who "does" something. You don't. I don't. No one does. It is enough just to be as you are. To earn your living honestly. To be kind. To put God first.
What is God? That is a question each of us must find our own answer to. No one can tell us this. Words can only point the way.
God is Divine Presence. Here. Now. In this moment. In this moment, for me, I am writing this with a sweet dog on my lap (I have to stretch to reach the laptop) and a soft cat near by. This is all that is happening right now--and this connection with you, and whoever reads this here in our classroom--and my connection with something higher.
Right now everything is perfect as it is. Only when the mind comes in and disturbs me with negative thoughts of lack, loss, fear, and limitation does a problem arise -- and then only when I believe in those thoughts.
When I am believing in those thoughts, I am believing in what is false. I am putting false images before God. God never wants us to be afraid or hurt or depressed or anxious. That is not God. That is the false self, the ego, the negative energy that pervades the world.
We must never give into that false energy. What we must do is become aware of it. What we can SEE begins to lose control over us. It was what we cannot see that has the ability to harm us.
The mind is so good at warning us of impending doom and gloom. The mind pretends it is a fortune teller, and it is not. The mind -- the actual mind -- is a tool. It can help us through life. But not when it gets filled with negative thoughts. We must unclog the mind, the way a plumber unclogs a drain, so the water can run clearly down the drain.
Well, now I have to stop writing, because this awkward position with a dog on my lap and a cat rubbing against the laptop is making my shoulder hurt!
Love to you Monika. I am glad you get so much from this post. My friend, Mary Kay, who is a graphic artist, loved the words so much, she put them into this design. I love it!
And thanks for your gratitude. Gratitude is what we all need to give -- and we receive even more in return. See you soon to kick off the European Tour 2014 -- on September 11 -- when little Penny and I get off our very long long flight.
