Take time to commune with God in your private
moments. Walk and think of God. Thank God for the food you eat. Think of food
as God. Kiss your little child good night as though he or she is God. Look into
your lover’s eyes as though your lover is God. Let this extend to all beings
everywhere. Pet your cat or your dog as though you are touching God. Greet
everyone as though you are greeting God. When you sleep at night, if you have
no one to hold, then hold yourself as though you are holding God. Greet each
morning as though you are waking safe in the arms of God’s love.
This does not mean you should be unwise. You do not run up to a mad elephant rumbling down the road with a smile on your face--because the elephant will trample you. You run in the opposite direction from mad elephants (and mad people), or at least get out of the way.
