Praise and Blame

The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism.  --Norman Vincent Peale

The Supreme Reality stands revealed in the consciousness of those who have conquered themselves. They live in peace alike in cold and heat, pleasure and pain, praise and blame. -- Bhagavad Gita 6:7

Who is wise and holds praise and blame to be the same . . . such a one is said to have transcended the modes of nature. -- Bhagavad Gita 14:25

  1. You are welcome, Monika. I love the reminder to treat praise and blame as the same. And to accept and learn from the criticism of others -- it might just be helpful and allow us to learn and grow. It is always helpful not to become defensive or aggressive. And not to become blown up like a balloon when someone praises us -- because balloons pop!

  2. It reminds me to one of the profound 'rouls' of Reiki. The Reiki energy is flowing through us while we are giving a treatment. And it is not us to praise or blame the results of the treatment. We are just there to create a space where this energy can take place.
