Thank you, Mary. Actually it was on Monday, December 3, but that you remember at all is amazing. I almost never remember birthdays, in spite of my best intentions. When is yours? And SO good to see you here! I haven't been here myself to write in several days, but mean to soon, at least more than ta comment
I think it is an adjustment - the days getting dark so early - at least it is for me.
I plan to be in New York State on Dec, 17 though New Years.
I'm not usually good at keeping track of birthdays either, but I ran across yours in my address book a while back and remembered you were a December baby! So I looked it up yesterday. My birthday is 3/3. I am a pisces.
I have heard that upstate New York is beautiful, and have seen pictures of the trees, hills, and streams on TV. I would love to experience nature there someday.
I agree, the dark days are an adjustment for me too. I definitely go to bed earlier and sleep longer. My dog Cowboy loves it that we all go to bed earlier. LOL!.
It used to depress me when I thought about how long the dark days last, then I read, as I am sure you already know, that since the Winter Solstice (Dec. 21st) is the shortest day of the year (has the least hours of daylight) then once Dec 21st passes, each day gets longer (has a few more minutes of daylight) so I think about each day getting lighter from Dec 22nd on till summer! And when I leave the office each evening and walk to my car, I try to notice that it is a little lighter for a little longer each day, and that really helps!
We really need rain here, so I am actually hoping for some snow this year to help water and nourish the land.
