The Goddess' form is divine and radiant. Her complexion is golden bright. She has four arms. Her right upper hand is in a pose of allaying all fears and the lower one is in the boon granting gesture (Varada Mudra). In the left hands She holds a sword and a lotus respectively. Her vehicle is the lion.
Yes, our true self is divine, radiant, and golden bright because it is composed of light. This is a light that cannot be seen with the physical eyes. It is a light that contains both light and dark. Can you imagine such a light? Probably not, because it is also beyond all imagination. Nevertheless, it is so. We are also reminded that fears have no place in our life.
The legend says that this goddess was created from the gods to destroy the haughty demon Mahishasura. The gods each gave this goddess part of their splendor. It is said that Mother Katyayani fulfills the wishes of her devotees. The Gopis of Vrindavana worshipped this goddess with a desire to have Sri Krishna as their husband.
I don't know about an actual wish fulfilling goddess, but what does a deeper look at this legend tell us? You might want to stop and contemplate this for yourself, before reading further, to develop your own powers of inner knowing (they are there!) and see what arises from your higher self. That's what I do. I connect with the angelic realm and receive deeper understandings. You can do this too. And please do feel welcome to post your inner revelations anytime here in our classroom. If you feel shy or inadequate, do not let these feelings take you hostage! Go against them! You will be glad you did.
A deeper look at this legend tells us that, as the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for! Often our wishes and desires are fulfilled. What we set our minds upon, we often do achieve. So we want to set our mind upon goals that truly serve us. We want to learn to recognize and let go of what does not help us. We want to be aware of the wishes and desires that are filling up our minds. The angels assure you, if you had any idea of the unconscious wishes and desires taking up space in your mind, you would be shocked! So, work to become aware. Ask the angels to guide every wish and desire and to remove each one that is not in your highest interests. Whenever you have a wish for something, you can consciously hand it over to the angels.
One way to do this is to sit quietly and imagine yourself wrapping up your wish like a gift in gold or silver paper. Tie it with ribbons. Visualize your angel before you. Humbly offer your gift to the angels, with the prayer or request that it be unwrapped ONLY if it serves your highest self. Smile. Let it go. Let it go into the keeping of the angels who love and serve God through serving you.
All my love,
your teacher

Dear Teacher, thank you for this meditation. It is one of the simplest and most powerful techniques for allowing only what is right for our soul journey into our life and letting go of what is not.
ReplyDeleteI have tried this meditation several times already! Here is what it helps me do:
1. Clarify my goals. Because in order to wrap it up, I have to sit with it and form a clear picture and intention. I've been better able to see what arises from my heart and what arises from my ego. Sometimes I let go of a desire even before I wrap it up - because I realize it is not even worth wrapping up in gold or silver paper.
2. When I have gotten so far as to wrap up a desire or intention and hand it to my angel (and visualizing an angel is also a remarkable experience) - I feel a great relief - that it is now out of my hands
3. As I go through my day, whenever my mind turns toward this desire, I remind myself that I have gifted it to my angel; it is now out of my hands, and if it is in my best interests, then the way and means to achieve that desire will be shown to me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this meditation and also this focus upon the 9 days of the Goddess. I am as always your forever grateful student, Kevin.
I am glad you tried the meditation, Kevin. Yes, those of you who show up and practice the homework do have positive results.
