I just wanted to say good morning. It rained and rained yesterday and the green colors of the leaves and plants have deepened. The air is thick with happy nature spirits. The earth is quenching its thirst. The tiny roots below the earth are drinking like hungry babies. Altogether beautiful.

As you know, I am in New York State, visiting family and friends, mostly helping out my parents in their aging years.

Some people think only of New York City when they think of New York State. They do not realize that this state is rich in rural lands, forests, parks, lakes, and farms. It is altogether beautiful.

I grew up here, walking through the woods. Nature was my dearest companion and my teacher. I knew every flower by heart, where to find the tiny violets hiding in the woods. My perfume was the scent of lilacs in the spring. I made friends with the nature spirits.

The winters here are long. For a child they are a delight, making snow angels, constructing snow houses, sledding and iceskating. Snow plows pile up the snow along the roads.

Home is where the heart is.
