SLEEP

Hello Dear Students, While it is true you are not the body, your body is the home of your spirit. Your spirit is happiest when it lives in a happy home. Good sleep is vital to a happy home! So give yourself time to sleep, to rest, to do all the deep healing work that happens during deep sleep. Here are some ideas to help you give yourself permission to enjoy a peaceful sleep.

Let yourself begin to drift towards deep rest in the evening. Maybe do some soft stretching or yoga or take a warm bath so your muscles are relaxed. Try herbal tea, like chamomile, maybe with a little honey. Stay away from heavy food before sleeping, but if you really have insomnia, you could try a baked potato.

Avoid disturbing TV or radio news. You may like to read something spiritual or uplifting as an evening ritual, even a few sentences, so that the last words in your mind are positive and you carry these into your dreams.

Give yourself the best sleeping place you can. This means a good sleeping surface, soft enough to cradle you like a baby. Synthetic pillows harbor more dust mite matter than natural, so use down or feather when you can. Softness is important to your body, so give yourself softness against your body.

If your sleeping room is noisy, play soft music or use a white noise machine, maybe the sound of ocean. Do your best to keep a nice air flow and all light shut out, since any light can disrupt the pineal gland and your rest.

Before sleeping you might like to go through your day and release any anger or resentments you may have accumulated that day.

As you close your eyes, let your breathing be deep and even. Let gratitude arise for the safety and peace of your own sleeping room, in your own body, in the arms of Mother Earth, floating into the deep blessing of peaceful healing sleep, which nurtures your body, frees your mind, and allows you to learn and grow as your spirit flies free into the non-physical realms of sleep.

With deep, peaceful love,
your teacher

  3. My teachers in school used to wake me up because I would be daydreaming at my desk and not hearing what they were saying. But they did not really wake me up. THIS school is waking me up! And now it is helping me find true rest too. Super!
