Dearest Students,
Annie writes (regarding her first lesson): "Does he have any concern for me or is it all about him and his needs? I guess that’s a question and one that won’t get me anywhere. So I guess the truth is I feel so all alone and the question is why? By the way you can use anything I write to you in any way you want in this school. I really wan’t to stop hiding out and just be myself."
Answer: Being yourself is the purpose of the School!
Annie asks 2 questions: The first is a question about somebody else. And she answers it quite rightly - it is a question that will not get her anywhere. It is a question that takes her out of herself - out of her own field of energy - and into the field of energy of another person.
The angels say, come back, Annie! Return to your field of energy. Find out who you are, what you think, and what you feel.
Annie, you might then, change your first question to: "Do I have any concern for me or is it all about him and his needs?" - or - "Do I have any concern for him or is it all about me and my needs?" - or - "Do I have any concern for God or is it all about my ego and my ego needs?”
One way to expand our thinking is to ask the same question in different ways. And then contemplate the question and any answers that may arise. This helps the brain get out of its rut. It shows the brain that there are new ways to think. It opens up new possibilities. Otherwise, the brain may just continue to spin in useless circles, like the tires of a car spinning on ice and never getting anywhere.
The 2nd question Annie asked was, “So I guess the truth is I feel so all alone and the question is why?”
Annie followed her homework. She wrote down her first question. This wisely led to her 2nd question - a question of far more importance than the first: “So I guess the truth is I feel so all alone and the question is why?”
When you leave yourself - leave your own energy field - you naturally feel all alone. You are giving your attention to that man out there (who maybe is giving his attention to himself also! - so now he has his and yours too!)
I suggest you contemplate the new questions I have suggested. Perhaps they will lead you deeper within yourself.
In the meantime, listen to the loneliness. Find out what it has to teach you. Find out what it needs. Maybe it just needs your love and attention. Maybe it needs you to stop looking for impermanent solutions.
Please be patient, loving, and kind with yourself. Understanding takes as long as it takes.
